In the Tidal House concept study, the first design decision is a line. A low roof follows the horizon, making the changing conditions around it more visible. The building becomes a frame for the sea rather than an object competing with it.
A courtyard introduces a second scale: close, protected and domestic. Moving between these two conditions gives the house its rhythm. This fictional study asks how little architecture is needed to make a landscape inhabitable.
