Light Well begins with the removal of a piece of the floor and a piece of the roof. The resulting vertical room connects two levels and gives the center of the home a direct relationship with the sky.
In this fictional study, material is used to make light legible. The stone floor receives it, the oak surfaces soften it and the deep skylight changes its character through the day. The section becomes as important as the plan.
